Several years ago, Robert Stoll and others in the community helped form Albina Opportunities Corporation (now Ascent Funding), a nonprofit that provides loans and business guidance to firms owned by minorities, women, and disadvantaged populations. Today, the organization has loaned money to many small businesses, creating over 600 new jobs. Although Robert has volunteered thousands of hours, he is quick to point out that every volunteer can make a huge difference.
