Education for Climate Solutions & Justice

Vision 2030 is a team of teachers, volunteers and nonprofit and governmental organizations who support a local, place-based approach to educate middle and high school students about Portland’s efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 50 percent from 1990 levels by 2030.
 
Our team offers the Keystone Lesson on Climate Justice & Solutions and we promote related lessons and projects led by students, teachers, and partners. We also partner with schools to organize fairs and events for students to learn about different climate solutions and workforce opportunities.

Participate in the Keystone Lesson on Climate Justice & Solutions, an opportunity for students to experience a free, interactive presentation about our region’s 2030 climate goal, solutions, and workforce opportunities. The lesson can be taught in-person, online, or as a hybrid model.

Want to partner on a fair or event?

Our team has supported fairs and events in English and Spanish, and for both middle and high school students.

In 2022, we facilitated large, in-person events at Roseway Heights and Robert Gray Middle Schools. In 2023, we will host three more fairs at Roseway Heights, Robert Gray, and Parkrose.

Since 2020, we have also partnered with Portland Public Schools on district-wide events to spotlight climate careers.

Join our Vision 2030 Team

Core team members meet bi-weekly to network and to accomplish more together. All team members meet periodically to share progress on specific projects. Together, we offer:
  • Keystone Lesson on Climate Justice & Solutions
  • Fairs and events to introduce groups of students to climate solutions and climate career paths
  • More lessons and student project opportunities

SAGE's Vision 2030 Team offers education for middle and high school students about the Portland and Multnomah County climate goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50 percent from 1990 levels by the year 2030.

Are you interested in leading an initiative for Vision 2030? If so, we encourage you to join us as a Core Team Member.

Team members promote educational projects and career opportunities. Members include students, teachers, volunteers and nonprofit and governmental organizations who share information, coordinate efforts, and engage students in the learning and work to achieve our region’s goal.

Do you enjoy working with middle and high school students? If so, join us as a Climate Solutions Educator to inform students about our region’s 2030 climate goal, the solutions in our region’s Climate Action Plan, relevant workforce opportunities, and to support hands-on projects for students.
